I don't think I've been adding too much prime, buy maybe. I have always been pretty light on feeding, so I don't think that's the cause.

NickinVA;2924619; said:Oh, I guess I should have figured it was Prime the first time you said you added Prime.
It could be stirring up crud in your substrate. I just suggested the treatment because that seems to be a more common cause. It doesn't take too much extra to make it bubbly and filmy.

Lately I have been having a oily look film at the surface of my 75 gallon. I have also noticed that there is a lot of bubbles/foam at the top around the edges.
I have a lot of surface agitation, 2 xp3's pointed at the surface with the spraybar, 2 ac110's, and 1 400gph powerhead used for surface agitation.
The only thing that has changed lately is changed from crushed coral substrate to pool filter sand. It says on the bag that it is quartz (silica) sand of extreme purity and says its inert. I noticed today though that the sand is magnetic, which I found kind of strange.
stingraybob;2926306; said:Just out of curiosity, whats the time frame between adding the sand and seeing the oil in your water????? You said you stirred up the sand and now theres oil, this may be elementary, but some dont do it, DID YOU WASH YOUR SAND BEFORE YOU ADDED IT TO THE TANK??????
