Food Coloring?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I didn't think people could actually get mad about this. If the fish aren't doing good I will just move them to another tank. If my bacteria all dies I can just drain the tank its only a 5 gallon. The filter will not remove the dye bec it is a homo mix. like salt. For wasting feeders, they are living a better life then being torn apart and eaten.
Like honestly if you are disagreeing with this try it before you form an opinion.
If anyone has real results that food coloring can hurt the fish please tell me and I will remove the fish from the badass blue tank.

The reason I started this was to see if anyone has tried it. Not to have PETA members get offended about my 10 cent fish being in a blue tank

Just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should! I would think that most of the members on this site are not PETA members, but are just passionate about their hobby. Any sort of stunt like this is likely to wind most, if not all of us up a little. And to be honest, does it really do much for your fish?

Well how about you explain to me what MFK strives for. World peace with fish? it is a forum to talk about the hobby.

If it doesn't hurt the fish, and it doesn't hurt the bacteria, and it has no negative affects, why are you so quick to be against it. Do you not like the color blue?
Like I said if anyone has any real proof that food coloring will harm fish I will remove them immediately.
You add all sorts of chemicals to your water. salt, carbon, ammonia remover, chlorine remover, ph up and down, even fish food prob has ingredients you have never heard of. why do people add these to there tanks? Bec there is no proof that it harms them.
If you think I am somehow being mean to these fish then you can kick me out of MFK.

Hey HuffDaddy, for one you have to realize that you posted on a public forum.. you are going to have a lot said that you will like and a bunch that you will not. Don't be so defensive, you wanted to talk about this ..and this is what we are going to do.

The color blue is great, but not in my tank... lots of members like the more nature look.. and imo, I wouldn't to it because I think it looks tacky....and if I knew it would do NO harm to the fish I still wouldn't to it... but if you find that your fish and tank are not affected by it all.. knock yourself out..

I'm still waiting for what MFK strives for.

people not like you....be an adult maybe? no one here was flaming you just saying they wouldn't do it..

and as far as proof for all those things people put in there tanks not harming them with those 'unheard of ingredients'...well they have been used for YEARS in the hobby with no side affects...the same cannot be said for food dye ..
so its up to you , to do with your tank as you see fit....every one was chipping in there 2 cents. ^_^ y

Even if the fish are doing "fine", artificial food dyes are not good for people all the time anyways. You will be exposing these fish to it 24/7. And feeder fish are very tolerant of poor water conditions. You put a sensitive fish in there like a Discus, it may not even last a day.

"We are a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. The majority of our fish collections include RARE & EXOTIC Species of all sizes, BIG FISH with BIG APPETITES and BIG TANKS. It's not easy for most people or other "regular" fish keepers to understand why we maintain this type of collection and spare no expense on this fascinating hobby.

Hopefully, through this site and discussion forums we can encourage the next generation of Monster Fish Keepers to have the same passion and love we have for the hobby and our Monster Fish."
