+1 Yeah, that is another important influence! Thank you for the suggestion. ;) Regarding the Festae in your avatar, what do you feed him primarily?

He eats NLS, Xtreme and while spawning a bit of Massivore. He's not very picky at all ... Pounds everything equally

Aside from the obvious (good water quality, limited stress, adequate room to swim/hide, etc), I've always had very fast growth with Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets (I believe it's very similar to massivore). It's a bit more expensive, but fish absolutely love it and its a great alternative to live food.

What does everyone think about Massivore?

I think it's a useful food for converting picky fish or those that eat live foods or for spawning, but personally would not use it as a staple.

Its more on par with fast food for humans and I chose not to eat McDonald's every day. Some would and do and that's a personal choice, but fast growth and overall longterm health are 2 different things. Totally a personal choice here.

Why do you want "fast" growth? Making your fish grow as fast a possible usually leads to fatty deposits on the liver which leads to many of the "unexplained" deaths in the aquarium hobby of mature fish. You can seriously reduce the maximum lifespan of your fish by several YEARS by trying to achieve the fastest growth possible. Fish are amazing at converting food to growth, just feed them appropriately and enjoy them for many years.

I think some folks forget some of these fish can live some 15-20 years if provided for properly. Lighter feedings of a quality diet pays dividends in the long run.

Amen to that - less is more. I feed quality pellets and live red wiggler worms. I try to skip at least two days per week of feeding... And my fish are probably still overfed :)

Oh I know this everyone, I was just curious and trying to learn and expand my knowledge. :) I do not typically do this and I was just wondering short term, and different foods such as ones that help stimulate growth more efficiently. I realize high protein diets could likely shorten the lifespan considerably, which is why I do not typically try that approach. A lean diet is best for long term and I even typically skip days because of their metabolism. They are not naturally designed to have food in abundance at precise times throughout the day. :) I just wanted to clear this potential confusion now lol. Merely just trying to expand my knowledge from other people's successful experiences. ;)
