I think some folks forget some of these fish can live some 15-20 years if provided for properly. Lighter feedings of a quality diet pays dividends in the long run.

Why do you want "fast" growth? Making your fish grow as fast a possible usually leads to fatty deposits on the liver which leads to many of the "unexplained" deaths in the aquarium hobby of mature fish. You can seriously reduce the maximum lifespan of your fish by several YEARS by trying to achieve the fastest growth possible. Fish are amazing at converting food to growth, just feed them appropriately and enjoy them for many years.
