Food Question

Just to add to the above suggestions, I like Omega One and ZooMed foods as well. If you want more plant matter in their diets, omega one's sinking veggie pellets have a good ingredients list as does Zoomed's spirulina flake foods.

What is it with Hikari foods though.. Their ingredients never read that impressive, but fish always do well on it and love the stuff.

For my big SA cichlids, they get hikari bio gold + medium pellets (has to have the plus +). Their turds turn to dust with this food.
Yah I feel like Hikari food is a pretty heavily debated subject. Because like you said, the ingredients don’t look too impressive. But with that being said, fish do great on it. I just watched an Andy Woods video a little while ago and he uses Hikari with his fish. And IMO, fish don’t get any better looking than his.

I use NTLABS, HIKARI and I’ve always been a big fan of TETRA PRIMA
my large South American’s love it and I’ve always used it and in my opinion I’ve always had good looking fish and I put this down to the foods and the quality of the water ( same may disagree)

I feed my dovii and jags Hikari sinking gold then switch over to massivore once they get too big for the sizes that sinking gold is made in. I have tried Northfin multiple times, because it looks great on the ingredient side but they will absolutely not take it. They probably would if they were on the brink of starving, but they really do not like it. Same goes for Omega and NLS. Never had a problem with Hikari. Fish look great, grow great, and Hikari is even priced reasonably.
