try tilapia with vita chem if your looking for growth, had my oscars on pellets, blood worms, and brine shrimp until they were about 4" and then switched to frozen fish with vita chem and their rate of growth increased greatly

Thanx for the idea, I'll try anything. I had a flowerhorn that got sick and passed away on me one day at 8in and I got a Oscar to replace what I lost..so what ever I could feed him I'll do for max growth.

I feed mine NLS Thera A+ 3mm pellets, Omega One freeze dried shrimps, bloodworms and wafers. I also feed night crawlers and Convict fry for the occasional live treat. I do a 50% water change once a week and sometimes 2 partials depending on what I feed it that particular week. One thing to note, Oscars grow pretty fast as is, but I've always been leery about trying to get my fish to grow too fast in fear of them not living as long.

Rite now I feed him 4 times a day, shrimp, fish, hikari pellets. When I do feed him the shrimp and or fish I wait like 30min and do a WC rite after like maybe 10 percent just to get the left overs out.
I would like to feed him live fish( not feeders) but all I got are a bunch of African cichlids babies, which are my wife's so she would kill me......maybe the same way the Oscar would kill it.:nutkick:

I starved him for a day and threw in pellets and he doesn't touch them, I feel like I wasted money on these hikari sinking pellets. All he touches now is shrimp and frogs. Do you think I could feed him that as a staple?

A day is nothing, Offer him a pellet 1 or 2 a day until he takes it. If the water is clean the Oscar will eat. My Oscars didn't take well to the Massivore when it sunk because the other two pellets I use float. But, once they caught a Massivore they were hooked. \

Now he's acting retarded, everytime I walk to the tank to feed him he lays down. But as soon as I throw in shrimp he's attacking it. I do my water changes every other day on his tank and on Fridays I leave his tank alone during the weekend. He has a clown loach that's his buddy but I don't know if I should get something else in the tank. It's a 65g.

For me what has worked in the past for quick growth is high water temp, powerhead, 3 feedings a day, and water changes galore! Its a pain in the ass but I did a 10-20% everyday and kept the temp around 84-86 degrees and got very good results. As for the food I think everyone has covered that just make sure he is getting enough protein.
