nothing. this is the lounge.

You could actually google and get an answer why it was originally included.

To everyone it means something a little different.

To me:

It gives me the right to buy/own a gun of some kind. It means if you come try to take my crap or harm my family I have a gun to protect myself with.

It doesn't really apply to only to right wing or left wing. As I'm a walking testimate to that.

It lets me love 7.62x39 and 12 gauge shells.

You might also consider including something talking about the new "castle laws" that apply in some states. It's not directly second amenment but an offshoot that goes further into what some states are allowed to do when protecting their home.

ab962 does suck, if indeed even with ID you can't but ammo online in cali.

thanks good info.

This amendment went into effect when it was still common to call upon everyday, untrained citizens to suddenly fight in wars, when individuals hunted for food, and when calling 911 was not an option. It was partly out of necessity of doing so in era that the Bill of Rights was written. Also, in this time of upheaval, the people living in what is now the United States did not all share the same views. There was fear, unrest, and government instability. I believe that there was also a strong sense of distrust towards government and the abuse of power the created a need to be able to protect oneself even against the government.

For those living in an urban environment today, most people do not have a single need or reason to ever own, handle or understand a gun, and yet many people have the desire to do so. For some, it is a sense that you can protect yourself. For others, its a hobby. And for still others, it is simply a fashion accessory. Each gun owner has their reasons, and you hope they are reasonable and responsible ones.

Okay, I'll go on a limb here see how fast someone takes a swipe. If you're going to make some comment to me, please use logic, reasoning, etc and not lame, unjustified stabs or cheap shots... I believe that we have a right to responsibly bear arms. What I mean is that if you choose to own and operate a weapon, there needs to be some required form of hands on education and/or written AND PRACTICAL test that goes along with each gun sale. A drunk father showing his 7 year old how to fire a gun doesn't count. Safety, maintenance, accuracy, and ANGER MANAGEMENT need to be some of the requirements. Just because someone is momentarily sober, has waited for three days, and doesn't have too bad of a record does not qualify them to buy and handle a gun.
