so the fish that the lfs is selling as a needle nosed gar is incorrect?is there such thing as a real needle nosed gar or did they just make that up?

The fish sold as "needle nose gar" is actually Xenentodon cancila, a brackishwater needlefish and not a true gar.

The "gar" appellation is based on its superficial resemblence to the true gars of the family Lepisosteidae.
