most all basements have a floor drain (look near the water heater) IF not you can buy pumps at home depot for cheap. Get some sort of collection tank, once it is full enough pump the water outside with a garden hose.
what you can find at Home Depot you can find at LOWES cheaper in in fact for find it at Home Depot for less LOWES will match it and take another 10% off, lowes will even ship it to your door for free

do you have a basin sink in the water heater/furnace/laundry room? that's what i use.

Our washer and dryer are in the basement and we've got a large wash sink (plastic thing w/ four legs) hooked up to the same drain-the python hooks on & I turn on the cold water...and 40% or so goes down the drain.

Smaller tanks I'd use the siphon and bucket routine- and like you said dump the water in the toilet.

I guess I am lucky, we just got done remodeling our basement and we added a bathroom/utility room downstairs. My fiance installed a utility sink with attachments for my python to make water changes in the 125 gallon easier.
Good Luck!!

hmmmmmm... thanks for the replies guys...

what i was asking is how to take out the water from the basement to anywhere say a drain or a sink.

i dont know if we whave a sink in the basement because the washing machine/dryer is on the top.

i will have to check it when we go back. ( i hope there is )

thanks again guys. the home depot pump is on my mind thx bderick!

my vote goes for the python as well. I bought one and I'll never use anything else.. ..until I build some massive tank with a filter system that's integrated right into the house plumbing

Use the utility sink, sump pump drain..

I put a sink in the basement for about 175 bucks.it was worth every penny, before that i connected two pythons together and ran the sink in the kitchen upstairs.
