For those who think Aro's can't live with gars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gar are attracted to fast moving flashy objects that is why most lures for them are shiny ie:a silver spoon and a piece of nylon rope. When the aro is smaller than the gar all the aro is is a long shad. Vice versa and larger aros can attack smaller gars.

also, aros are much better at maneuvering than gars...when you see aros spook out,in a big enough tank they easily turn around instead of hitting the glass straight in the face.
gars however, dont maneuver very well and easily break their backs by crashing into the glass.
especially with the kind of snouts they have...

another thing,IMO,is that aros tend to eat very aggressively and outcompete gars.
ive also seen gars become so hungry they start to outcompete the aros.
either way it leads to a difference in growth rate with one eventually much bigger than the other.

could have seen that coming if i was mr. magoo.

Really? Who said that Gar and Arowana can't lived together? Not mine. My Gar and Silver Arowana are doing just fine living together in the same tank.

this has got to be one of the most useless threads in the forum. it's just going to go pointlessly back and forth, not only that, it will be riddled with the exceptions to the rule, which doesn't help nor give the correct impression of the combination at all.--
