No way 2 300 watt heaters will be able to maintain your steady 90 degree temperature, even with a properly built insuated lid, it would be nearly impossible since you have such a huge volume of water. And you want to filter your 8x4 with a fluval 303? I wouldnt even trust 4 fx5s to do that job, let alone 1 small canister. Just equipment alone will cost you way more than the $1000 needed to buy the 6x4 tank lol. I guess you could cut out the filtration if you were planning on doing plants like the guy in the article you quoted from. Eventually, your electricity bill also will just leech you dry especially since your pond is in your basement.

it really depends. note that pond liners are made of rubber/plastic or materials that are not good heat conductors like glass. well just one big filter would be fine. the rest is let down for bateria chemistry to do the job. well a 1000 dollar tank plus alll the equipmetn will cost more over too. again either way it is gonna be big money so why not instead just go for 8x8 instead of 6x4. don't worry i got the money to do this. probably don't even need a 300watt heater since my temp inside is already in the mid 70-80.

The pond is a good idea if you have the space for it and dont mind always looking down on your fish and never viewing them from the side.

cost wise, it is cheaper to build a pond. But to run it that is another story.

1000 gallon pond will be cheaper to build then a 1000gallon tank.

hey, i went there too!! I got there when the shipment just got in. There was a lot of babies.
i traded my large pleco for one.
i picked the one that had the longest barbels.
the color of my fish is also more yellow than green.
it is kind of shy though.
they even let me net it myself, and let me take my time too.
i am feeding it glass worms - which they also sell.
What are you guys feeding yours..?

i do live black worms(witch they have on hand for $30/lb) for my dats they eat some, dry blood worms and frozen blood worms are a larger part...i feed them to the dats and my juruense cat aswell...
