TBH most of the bci females I *personally* have seen have been at least 6 foot. Pumped full of food? Or the rest being unfed? Make of it what you will, you will anyway.

lets make this easy, How many RTB,s have you worked with?
How many have you grown to adult hood? how many have you owned?

i have years of experience, with keeping, growing and breeding RTB..

i am NOT saying your wrong, your breeder could have an exellent gene pool he is working with, but MOST BCI, are mutts, in bred ect.. and that ruins there true potential..

Yes they get bigger, but lots don't. the average BCI will not get as big as they should.

Average keepers? You saying average keepers can't grow their animals correctly?

Do me a favour. Don't question my experience all because you just don't agree with me, or I will do exactly the same. I do not have to answer to you. But I have EXPERIENCED ALOT of BCI'S thankyou very much, just for the record ;)

My point all along was they can get bigger. Not that all do. Its just you choosing to read what you want for the sake of the argument.

Nope, just average BCI'S he works with. I have NEVER seen a properly cared for adult female BCI 6 foot or under.

Make of that what you will.

hey jessica, how big of viv do you have for your king, i really think i want to get one. i love how yours looks!!!

He's in a two foot at the moment and he's 26 inches, so due an upgrade very soon. A 3 and half foot viv - 4 foot viv should do for life :)
And thankyou, hes gorgeous isn't he.

Since when was a BCI a red tailed boa

In my experience a BCI is a common boa (BCC BEING A RED TAILED) ...:grinno:

Nicaraguan... Corn Island... Honduran... Caulkers Cay... Bahia Island...

I am just kidding Jessie. :p Not very many people get to see something other than a Columbian or a generic "Central American" mutt.

Two things here,

1) BCI is the most sold species of boa, and also Labeled as RTB.
2)my BCI's, have bright velvet red tails, well besides my Anery's

Enough arguing,

If its a free BP or RTB, take it.. you will be pleased with either snake,
if the ball python is established, you will have NO problem and you will enjoy it, if it is a RTB and it ends up being a Colombian, Be ready to dedicate a 4x2x1 Space for an adult, or better yet 5x2x1 if possible.

First of all... all Boa constrictor are technically Red-Tailed Boas in herpetological literatures. However, in herpetoculture, which we are all part of in the hobby, we refer B. c. constrictor as Red-Tailed Boas as a general rule. However there are just as many people that call the B. c. imperator Red-Tail Boas...

B. c. constrictor however are known as True Red-Tailed Boas in herpetological literatures.

Another reason why common names are complete CRAP. God, I wish sometimes vendors would just use the latin name and locale or cultivator name attached.

Theyre not red tailed boas though :screwy: They are common boa constrictors ie: BCI. Red tailed boas (yes in the hobby which considering how experienced you say you are, you should be part of) are BCC.

So does mine. Its a bci. Just because it has a red tail does not make it a BCC. A bci with a red tail is exactly that...a BCI. Just because it has a red tail does not give right to mislabel the species...

If its a boa, and you dont think you can handle it..trade it in. Theres no point getting something you yourself dont think your ready for, and its also responsible that you don't, as getting into to early could knock your confidence with snakes.
