Yeah, the lateral black line can come and go. Also, as PP and Scato and co. have explicated so well, there may be geographical color variants of various types anyway....typing a fish like the various crens seems an imperfect science at this point.

Thanks guys. This pike is very cool whatever he is. It's seems like he's bigger everytime I look at him. Perfect fit in my 150.

Friday I'm getting a Cyclostoma for my 72 gal. I'll post some pictures once he's settled in.
