:-Fresh water lionfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Often fish get labelled 'Freshwater Lionfish' because they are in the Scorpinidae (sp) Family.. I have also seen Vespicula Decompressifrons (butterfly goby, goblin waspfish) labelled as a FW lionfish, just due to it's family. Even though they don't look like true Lions, they are closely related. The sting is venemous as well..

Legitamate excuse, at least better than the one they use to list hujetas and needlefish as gars, decent sellers will tell you the genus/species if you ask, if they can't look it up BEFORE you buy and consider buying from someone who actually likes fish. Scorpian fish include lions, turkeys, stonefish, and toadfish. there are brackish stones and toads, all will sting, some stones will kill you . Miles will not only tell you what the lineaus name is he will tell you what his exp. with the fish is, that is a sign of some one who cares.

Ha!

I would like to say "I am not only a Sponsor, but an MFK Member!"..

Unlike some other sponsors who 'act' like they help out, but are really just around to sell fish! Then they bust out the 'I am not only a Sponsor, but a member" line when they wan't to get into personal issues..I won't mention names ;)

On-Topic:

The gar thing is stupid, yah. True gars are a different story, compared to the 'Needlefish' you see everywhere..

I also read that one of these so-called Freshwater fish are actually a juvenile amphibian, that when stressed or a sudden water paramater changes, they will grow legs and become a land-dwelling aquatic species. They do this naturally with seasonal changes in the wild, but no one knows what exactly triggers it in aquaria, other then poor conditions. Crazy huh? I have no idea what it was or is though, looks just like that ugly thing though..

They are called republicans at that stage, then they run for congress. And out law snakeheads.

interesting thread, with good information posted by the bros and sisters here.. =)

yap, that link that the thread started showed, that fish is a freshwater stone fish. can be found in sg, and is quiet cheap cost.

it doesnt move much though. haha

They have those for sale for 20.00 at petsolutions.com. They are under freshwater and they call it a freshwater lionfish. It also said that it wasn't venomous. I'm sure that it was the same fish though. :screwy:

haha.. looks like these shops are not telling the truth at all! Its still better to do research by yourself before you get the fish. I've heard of people rearing those type of fish in pure freshwater but they didnt survive for long.

hi i can get them at a local pet store in fair oaks. i see if i can get one in couple of days they are really cool and i wanted one so if i get one ill post pics.
