get research done before you buy also know what kind of ray you bought before you come ask us questions

I must say that this is no way to welcome someone to this site. Nor does it change the situation that this individual is in. I understand the fustration you feel as we are all fish lovers here. However I believe you should be providing him with all the information and advise you can ASAP to help ensure that his rays are in the best possiable enviroment he can provide. While at the same time explaining the importance of research prior to purchase. Simple biting him for his actions does nothing good for this site while the well being of his rays continues to be at risk.

As for any advise I can provide to you tattoo daddy I do not know much about ray care but I will recommend that you increase your filtration to at least 5x your tank volume per hour. In terms of water changes I recommend at least 50% weekly ( two changes per week of 25%). This however varies but it is what I do for my other fish. Good luck and I am sure that others here will be able to answer all your questions.

the P3 is not enough ... i have one on my 150 and i know its not enough .. so i added a Fx5 and even then a sump would be better.. and those look like relics maybe? i think thats what they are called.. and we have no idea what your exp. was so we had to figure the worst since you didnt answer the questions we asked you ..

and i really dont think that a 150 would be enough for any FW ray .. it might work .. but i see Oscars in 30 gal tanks all the time ..

Hi Tatoo Daddy,

don't take this the wrong way but these are probably the worst rays you could have bought and almost certain death awaits them. Very few people have managed to keep this type of stingray alive, even experts.
I do wish you the best of luck with them, but the wisest thing to do would be to return them to the shop and get your money back. These rays should not be sold to just any aquariumhobbiest, especially if they do not have the housing that is required.
If you do decide to keep them please keep us updated on how they are doing, I'm not saying it is impossible just very difficult and it also depends on the state they arrive in, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Greetings Mark

ty very much for the advise it took so long to respond because i did a water chang agin why is it they dont live long? what are some of the resons?

i do like the sting rays if something ever did happen god forbid what kind should i go with and really im just going to stick with fresh water right now

welcome. those are atlantics, not truly freshwater. they will produce MASSIVE amounts of waste if kept as such. the xp3 is not even going to make a dent. hell i only have bass in my 90 and i run an xp3 and 2x AC110's. you really should consider taking them back man. sorry. if you want fresh rays potamotrygon sp. are true feshwater, but they're illegal in texas :(

atlantic rays.... the real fresh water rays are illegal in texas you wont be able to legally keep them... those rays will produce alot of urine your tank and house will smell.... if your going to keep them start converting them to brackish...

what he said :D

I'm sorry to say the survival rate of this kind of ray is very low

i don't mean to sound as negative as some of the other posts but you should have researched them before buying if you can keep them alive for more than 6 months you will be very lucky

a good start would be to double the filteration and do daily water changes of at least 50%

good luck your going to need it
