When you go to put him in a brackish environment make sure that the other fish if any that will be with him are brackish. Make sure to get a hydrometer or refractometer to measure the salinity of the water and do a little research to see what level to start him off with. Also make sure to get marine salt not aquarium salt there not the same and he will need marine salt. If the eel is in the water make sure you mix the salt and water before adding it to the tank because adding salt directly to the tank when hes in there will burn him.
Also more then likely hes never been in saltwater before so you will have to accumulate him slowly to it. I suggest using the drip method here is a link to how to do that.
