Crystal...

i kept these puffers for awhile...

put some aquarium salt in as soon as possible...

it will keep them alive long enough till theyre adults, then convert them to a salt water tank...if not, sell them. lol
See, you can even get incorrect on a puffer in a puffer forum... Aquarium salt doesn't make BW, only marine salt does. Did you read that GSP article yet?

It's rare to find an LFS store owner that knows much. Let alone the high school students and the "high" college students who work there. I wonder why that is. Being an owner you should be INVOLVED. Like a passion. I would. It's crossed my mind on a number of occasions to try a fish store.

I got the same load from my LFS and argued with him and then the old man that owns the joint came up so I laid into them both and pulled up the info on my trusty iPhone

Good for you! Be sure to print my article & give it to them.

1: they are brackish/marine fish. if you go to a store that actually cares enough to know about their fish, the GSP and F8's are in brackish tanks like "that fish place" in lancaster, pa, one of the best LFS closer to me.
2: a varied diet is important. not just krill, it will cause lockjaw. go with frozen cubes like bloodworms, mussel, krill once in a while, mysis shrimp. make sure you defrost the frozen food and drain it before putting in your tank to help your nitrites and nitrates down.
3: and the most important part of their diet: snails, snails and more snails. NOT malaysian trumpet snails, the ice cream cone shaped ones, their shell is probably too hard and can crush your puffers teeth
4: 29 gallons is not enough for the life of the two puffers, you will need to upgrade to probably at least a 60 or so. i personally have my 2 GSP(2 inches each), 2 F8(1 1/2 inches each), chocolate chip starfish(end of tentacle to end of tentacle about 4 inches), scooter blenny(2 inches) and two 1 inch damsels in a 29, getting a 75 next week and upgrading the next week or so after the tank has cycled.

please dont just spur the moment fish shop, you will probably end up with dead fish or further complications that will cost you more money due to not cycling, misled info, etc etc. window shop first, do your homework to make sure that fish needs the same water parameters as other fish you have/want, make sure they are compatable. save yourself and the fish the trouble and stress

my friend kept a Nigroviridis in his fresh water tank for 9 years before it died - it was like 7 inches
Considering they should easilly live into their teens, 9 years is only 2/3 of their normal lifespan (or less).

How can we all be so sure she wasn't sold true freshwater dwarf puffers?
