I believe it is also critically endangered. I think it would be tough to keep one healthy accept in a public aquarium, nevermind the legality issues.

I had the opportunity of getting one back in the 70s. But sanity prevailed since I not only didn't have anything to house a 16ft adult, I also didn't have the $15,000.00 asking (wholesale) price.
5yrs ago saw a 2.5ft baby fish in a fish export centre show tank, feeding on live shrimps & feeder fishes com in a big tank full of monster oddballs & asian arowanas. The owner is asking for $3800 only.I am still looking for a baby specimen since then to hse it in my tank wt my asian arowanas.Hi any members own this fish kindly share wt us more information about this fish & pls post a picture too tks.

There are different species and some only get 6ft, had opportunity to get one 2 years ago baby was 1.5ft and 5,000

Actually, the smallest sawfish species is the Dwarf sawfish (Pristis clavata). It reaches about 4 1/2 feet. However, this is NOT considered a "FW" species. Plus, it's an australian species so, good luck in getting permission to have one exported.
