Freshwater shark?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why on earth are people calling Nurse or even Wobbegong sharks relatively small? My ass!

I find it VERY surprising that nobody refers to the dogfish when talking size.

Yea wobbegong can reach around 7 foot plus, but this guy wants a bull shark, a wobbegong is a better bet for him... But like i said.. start off with a BAmboo shark theyre smaller then dogfish, and NOT VENOMOUS like the dogfish!

Well, it seems he has two choices to go with (IF he can house one at all)

1. An aggressive 7 foot beast,

or

2. A 4 foot venomous non-beast...

So yeah, I'd go with a bamboo shark lol

Thanks-thank you for the advice. I have never had a saltwater tank and even though I really want one, I have to admit that I am afraid. I have heard that they are very difficult to keep and they require extensive water testing. I do enough testing on my patients and I do not want to come home and have to test my fish. Is it true that salt water requires so much time and effort?

Go with a I.d. shark that is what I did when i was going through the shark blues... THey get big too so be carefull.

no, in some cases they are easier than FW aquariums to maintain, they are just more expensive, and the fish are a bit more sensitive. keeping sharks in general, even the small catsharks, is very hard. have you ever though about FW stingrays? they are closely related to sharks and are alot easier to manage.

Yes I will think about that- a stingray may be the way to go, but I think I have to be more realistic. Being that I never did salt water before maybe I better learn to swim before I jump in. Can you people (my friends) give me a couple of pointers for starting a nice aggressive "First" saltwater tank?

There is no such thing as a FW "Shark" that actually looks like a real shark.

I had an experience with a Paroon shark which looks much like a real shark, but guess what? They can get up to 8 feet, which is much too big for me!!!

Needless to say, we've given up our search for a shark. :)
