FROG FEEDERS- Advice sought

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think that they will be fine as feeders.
i have some xenopus and i dont know what people are talking about.
they dont have claws on their front feet. they are more like fingers

There seems to be some confusion on what type of frog this is exactly.

:nilly:

African DWARF frogs hardly if ever come in an albino form. Very rare.

African CLAWED frogs however do come in albino form regularly. You most likely have the clawed frog.

Either way, I just fed my aro an african albino clawed frog the other day. The frog was eaten in one gulp. I did however notice that my aro spit out a small slime coat that the frog must have produced in reaction to being eaten. The end result was that the aro was fine. I would not however recommend a mass feeding of these frogs since it seems they produce a defensive slim coat. On a small scale I dont think it will hurt the aro but on a larger feeding scale there is no way to predict how a large amount of this defensive slime could effect your aro.

Hope this helps buddy! :)

the slime coat yu speak of is really the shed skin.
since i have kept this frog i have found that it is almost constantly shedding

ahhhh cool...so would you say this skin is non-toxic?

I don't think there would be any problem, I have seen vids of people feeding aros mice!!! I think the mouses teeth and claws would do much more damage then one of those African clawed frogs... especially a small one!!! you might not want to feed the full large adults though... LMO

they are harmless
unless you are a baby crawdad or guppy.
