frog or toad?

Get us a better pic please! Also turn your digital camera if using one to the macro setting. This is a strange critter, it has a head like a toad and it's back legs are not all big, wide and muscular like a frogs but it has that shiny skin.

it looks like a european green toad. they are fairly common in the pet trade. it looks like a frog, but its legs are much too short to be a frog. green toads are fairly frog-like though (agile, green, smooh-ish skin), so many people could mix them up. also, frog tadpoles are usually pretty big, and the ones you described sound like any other toad tadpole that i've seen

change me from frog to toad... look at the skin on his back legs in the 3rd new picture.. def toad... as to what kind.. im at a loss

Im not exacly in the mood to awnser stuff but will take any chances to help herps in troubble.Yes ,its a toad species, and European green toad is a very likely candidate. I know because Ive keept temporaly both the species that live here, only tadpoles to see first hand metamorphosis and to give them a head start in life and they(Bufo bufo and Bufo calamida) look almost identical to your´s. For what Im seeing you already got a nice enclosure. Change a part of the water daily and refill with declorinated water. Keep him in a cool position of your house far from heat sorces. Feed him lots of fruit flies and pinhead crickets, both gutloaded
