You're talking to me as if I'm new to fish keeping... If you see my other thread I'm looking at turning my 660,430 gallon (2,500,000 litre) pool into a saltwater pond, I do know what I'm doing! lol

It takes a degree of common sense. You have to watch/monitor them and adjust as necessary! Haha oscars are jerks but that's why I love them! I put my fenestratus in yesterday morning with the jag, oscars, green terror, red terror, JD, etc and they are absolutely fine!
Time bomb

Good, keeps things interesting!
as long as you're always on top of stuff and pay close attention everyday, you should be able to spy weaknesses or bullys, this is how people like us decided to keep fish so the repercussion is spending a lot more time observing, which is totally fine with me, ........the reason I got into fish was because I wanted a hobby to take up some down-time. If I slack off a little even for a day or two, it could be problematic.

People like us also have to make sure every single fish is well-fed daily or they WILL kill each other for food. Of all the dithers I have had go missing, most do not turn back up afterwards because they get consumed quickly.

What do you use as replaceable dithers? Just don't say convictS...hate convicts. ..

when I say "dithers" in that context I was referring the Danios, TB, Platys, Mollys, Guppys etc I used to keep. None of them made it so I will not buy more dithers simply so they can die, which is why (as confusing as it may be), now when I use the term "dithers", I am generally referring to mildly aggressive cichlids like Convicts, JDs, Jewels, FMs that can diffuse aggression from the big guys and distract them when they want to hurt each other.

The term "dither" may not be the best word for it, but nowadays, that is what I personally have as dither fish. I guess I could just say "smaller aggressive cichlids" to avoid confusion at this point, but to me a dither is defined or at least how I view a dither) a little differently. To me at this point, trying to keep community fish as dithers is a waste of time, money and life.

This is why I recommended using some of your grow-out cichlids you may already have in possession - many people simply use them for feeders, while I feel at least giving them a CHANCE at survival in a community is a little better than usng them for feeders knowing for a fact they will die. A 2-3" RTM is still a nasty little sucker......IMO, a "school" of them stand a much better chance than a school of fish like Danios or TB which compared to a cichlid are pretty much defenseless.

Taking into consideration that cichlids tend to target other cichlids and not other fish (in theory, but I disagree), I still stand by this regardless.

The idea behind it for me, is not NEEDING to replace them
