Well, looks like it's time to grab me some popcorn and watch y'all "voice your strong opinions" and "readily give your experienced backed knowledge"... ;-)

If you kept Axolotyls you'd wouldn't even THINK about trying to replicate their natural environment, would you?

You want what looks good to YOU, but consider how beneficial it is to the FISH

If we were that worried about the fish then we would leave them in the streams and lakes. My tanks are for my personal enjoyment and looking at pipes and flower pots brings me no joy. I put in rocks and wood and plants to make it look real because it pleases me. I take care of the fish for their health because I enjoy viewing healthy fish and sick fish stress me out. I do water changes all the time for this reason and because I enjoy seeing my tank clean. It's all for me. It's my hobby it's my ME time. If it was at all about what was best for the fish they would still be in the wild.

well then people are some serious hypocrites around here if that's the case, aren't they?

Well if anyone is going to pretend they are keeping fish in a glass box because it's all about what's best for the fish then yes they are. Now I also understand allot of people have fish rooms loaded with breeders and flower pots because they are selling fry. I get these aren't display tanks and that's cool. I just don't get the single 200+ tank displayed in the family room loaded with pipes and flower pots? This tank should be artwork imo.

I don't mean to sound like I don't care about my fish because I do...taking care of them and cleaning filters...water changes its all part of the fun for me. I want my fish to look magnificent to people that view them. But the hobby is for me not the fish.

Agree.

People on here appear to have some sort of emotional connection with fish, to me they are just fish.

Thank you. This is the best, most honest response yet.

we are ALL guilty of not always doing what's in the fish's best interest here, and the holier-than-thou attitude should cease to exist from anyone then if that is the case. No one is exempt if that's the case, so when people are pointing fingers, they need to remember there are 3 fingers pointing back at them.

Jeeeeesshhhh....chillz23...W. O. W.

What about World of Warcraft?!

Cracks me up when people moan about someone with a slightly undersized tank (in their opinion) then go and post up pictures of cooked sea food, some of which was likely boiled alive... lol
