I'm not sure what you mean by "recognize." If you mean actually recognize the difference between people and literally know who their "owner" is, then I don't know because I have never had fronts. If you simply mean do they recognize when a person comes to the tank to feed them, then yes. I have witnessed this in other people's tanks and at my LFS. Also, I will comment that in my 125g (with mbuna and haps) my fish not only recognize when I walk near the tank, but they know when it is feeding time. Approximately 5min before feeding time they begin to gather in the spot that I always feed waiting and reminding me that it is feeding time.
Also, when I walk by the tank the fish come to the front, but they mostly ignore my wife when she walks by. So it is possible that they do recognize the difference between us - or it could be the weight difference since I am over 100lbs heavier than my wife. The extra weight causing more vibrations in the tank or something - IDK.
