Frozen shrimp from Wal-Mart?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeh should b alright, I've carried on doing it. But I always get a cup of aquarium water an wash the chopped up bits in that b4 I put em in, cos a sort of film comes off of it an it don't look 2 appetizing ....

The shrimp contains sodium tripolyphosphate which is a sequestrant (preserves the quality and condition of foods). It's MSDS rating is 0,0,0,null. It's safer than the candy kids eat. The other additive is sodium bisulfate which is an added preservative that prevents bacteria growth.

Cool, Thanks for the info guys, this will save me alot of $$$$. It's funny cuz my LFS are the ones who told me this....They also just so happen to sell "Safe shrimp" for about $6.00 a 1/4 pound. thanks again.

I used to work with chemical sanitation equipment for the food industry. Most packaged lettuce you buy at the grocery store has been rinsed in a mild bleach solution during processing. They aren't required to put this on their packaging, but since millions of people safely eat foods that are sanitized like this every day, I can't imagine it would hurt the fish.

The bottom line is, if i could get my bass to eat anything but live food, i would be jumping for joy, not worrying about a little bleach issue...........

Find one of those cheap mark down stores that carries cheap bags of shrimp that still has the poop still in them:D.

Well the fact that i spent a couple hundred$$ on these fish, and gone thru the pain in the A#% process of getting them off of live food is all the more reason why i want to make sure i don't feed them anything that may harm, stunt or inhibit their growth. I don't wanna go thru that again.... Ya feel me?
