there are breeders in indonesia.
Sorry men ,as of now there are not breeders in the private sector, what there is a lot is hachers, they colect eggs layd by wild females and they incubate them and sell the babys. By my cout there are only 3 captive bred flys in this world (aparently a guy in Australia was also able to raise a few but I was not able to confirm it). A lot of this guys apear as captive breds but the supplyer is by short lying;)

hmmm..i guess i get misled info. do u know if these fl y river can be raised together from small size till they perish to eternal life?

i figured so, keeping them in a 6 by 2 for their entire lifetime is not a smart thing?
No it isnt:grinno: Youll need at least a doble in all directions and that is only for one. This guys get BIG. Even if most are smaller than their wild conterparts they are still huge by aquarium standarts. A 45-55cm animal is to expect.

I have a pair and i know they can be agressive towards each other but the person i bought the pair from said they have been living together up until now and had no problems fighting n think they r male/female pair...
First of the people you brougth them from is lying because there is no way to sex them at this size. It will take years untill you can make a good gess and even more time untill the secundary sexual caracteristics became realy aparent. By the way start praying that you dont have a female as she will need a big moist sandy area in wich to lay her eggs in about 22 years or so ;) That can be acompanied by medical trobbleship
Also is comon for territorial animals to behave in a no agressive maner when they are in pet shops simply because they are stressed and still trying to settle temselfes. But once setled they can became agressive. If I were you and dont wanting to risk both animals well being I would keep them apart.

so far i havent seen any wild vigorous actions but i dotn wana risk the worst outcome...but im sure there are ppl who successfully mixed these and had no problems??? anyone out there like to share this??? i dont wana sell one off because of their health hazard...
The secret to putting several animals together is to first grow them out. They seem to become more tolerant with age(but they can still became agressive specialy males). Second is to have a realy big enclosure with lots of things to hide and do, so that they are kept mentaly distracted. Also numbers help. 2 animals is very likely that will not work. With at least 5 adult animals the agression begins to desapear in the group.:D

thats true. what if they were raised together from baby time...wont they just live thru it together? and if they r male/female should b ok?? ahh..bottom line is i gota get rid of one...DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

u say their claw can scratch??? meaning their claws are stroung enough to rip through our skin? how do u know if FRT claw's leave scratch marks on glass tanks? Have you owned these before?
Yes they can rip both your skin and the tank walls. Oh did I mensioned they can also bite?:D That is far worse than skin scraches. But remenbar toch them only when you have no more alternative. As for the last question Ive never had the good fortune to own one, dont have space for it as Im to involved whit my other turt species. I would love to have one but they are not my cup of tea. If I could have a new turt I would ask for a florida softy:D:headbang2BUT Ive had the oportunity to work with them, one of my teachers in colege had a really big female that she raised from hachling (Im now wondering if she still has her:confused:) and I learned a lot of tricks from her. Ahhh...thouse were realy fun days:)

Dont desesperate already it can work or not, depends on the particular personality of each turt. I would sugest to keep a close eye on them for now. Also remenbar that if by some miracle they are indeed a cople you may need to separate them somewere along the line because the male will became sexualy mature sooner than the female and he may try to sexualy harrass her. In most adult groups that have setled there are a few females for each male to help diminish the agression that each reseives. If for some reason that cant be acomplished by lack of females or excess of males is realy better to keep them apart.

alright ill have to separate them later. so.....do they really scratch glass tanks n leave visible marks?!!! so annoying

wtf? they can rip my tankwalls? WOW FRT CLAWS R THAT STRONG? R U SERIOUS?!
Yes they are that stong but it will take years untill you beggin to see some notorios results. All my tanks are covered in scraches from my turts claws but I dont care. They work perfectly and I love my turts:D

well if their claws r strong enough to scratch n leave marks...im sure they can consistently scratch at one spot and escape your TANK?!?! worst case scenario.
