As far as acrylic, I would guess that they are fairly close in hardness, but I think the acrylic may be just a wee bit harder.

You can see from the photo that my snapper has some pretty formidable claws!
But yea most will take years to make themselfes noticed and most of my tanks have already surpased the 14 year old mark

I hate to sound like a broken record, but is it possible the scratches are from the turtles shoving around rocks or ornaments? If it is only the bottom and not the sides of the tank it seems like a possibility.
I guess given years of abrasion turtle claws could mark glass. Coura, I know you've got a lot more turtle experience than I do, so I wouldn't argue
Selki, I'm a little puzzled by your preoccupation with scratches. Most people on this site would give anything to get their hands on an FRT - I wouldn't worry about the possibility of scratches years down the road!

Yes in most tanks there are peebles, rocks and stuff that they like to push around so many scraches can be made by this. But I also notice scraches on the shell level in the tanks of the big turts. Can be made by the shell edge but rocks are also a possibility. As I said before I dont know when they start apearing
I also already told him to forget the &%# scraches thing and to go enjoy its turts

I hate to even say this, but I got the tank for free. I answered an add on a local aquarium society page that read "Free 300 gallon tank, must be displayed in a public school". It had been used at a University's School of Veterinary Diagnostics. Apparently they had gotten it through a grant and it was stipulated that it couldn't be sold. It came with the stand, a couple heaters (one working), lights, and an old Eheim 2017.
I did pay over 500 bucks for my drilled glass 135, but a FRT (if you COULD get one) would cost you a lot more than that around here!
I didn't mean to sound critical, it's just that in the long run I would live with the possibility of some scratches in order to better view your pig-nosed little friend.
