It's an 83 gallon soft coral tank. For the most part it has leathers, shrooms, zoa, and predatory soft corals, and of course fish. Nothing real special.sicxspeed;1536480; said:what tank is that in the reflection of your picture.....looks nice.
Well, my females have "experimented" before, check my avatar. I guess the male could be thinking the same thing,robmcd;1536506; said:Maybe your male prefers the company of other male XIs. .The tank is a standard 125 gallon. I've been reading alot of dwarf pike breeding reports. Upside down knotched flowerpots seem to work the best, or caves with only one entrance. I haven't been able to find a flowerpot that is large enough for the male to turn around in and fertilize the eggs, and will also fit in the tank. If I can do it carefully, I might try to cut a 24" wide, shallow pot in half. I just haven't found the right one. The tank has 1000 gph going through the filters and 800 gph of flow by powerheads. Plenty of flow, I would think. I haven't gotten the leaves from Miles yet.Taz2478;1538647; said:that's just so wrong but seriously hilarious.

Like I said, if I could do smaller water changes, I would. About 1 lb. of frozen food (silversides are very oily) and a handful of pellets every day makes nitrates build up quite fast. Doing 50% every day keeps the water as stable as possible(<20ppm NO3).fish speaker;1540080; said:Just a note: he was doing 10% PER DAY...so 70% per week. A good amount of water being changed, and no big swings in parameters.![]()

Or it could be that the male is getting frustrated because she won't breed with him. Get a HUGE piece of driftwood, holow it out. Lay one piece horizontally, another piece vertically. Might just be there are not enough spawning sites for them. Keep trying man, you'll get it right eventually. You've got a head start on most of us. Two females, nice!![]()
