People claim they get mean at some point. But not sure what that point is. I have a 10" one with a 18" barramundi, 5" oscar/flowerhorn/etc and had gars with it til yesterday. And so far no problems.

I got my 10"er from unknownuza13 who has had his for about a month with frt/scats/tig cat/a ton of other stuff I can't remember.. He still has 3 he's growing out.

As far as growth rate I think very fast. You're talking probably 2-3 months to 10" if you're powerfeeding.

BTW I have no aggression with mine my flowerhorn actually trys to chase it with no response from the emporer.

alrighty then, that what iw anted to hear, worth a try right? now to move some stuff around to see if i can grow one or 2 up :P

STOP TALKING ME INTO IT!!!!! ;)

so far mr. emporor is winning.....for the differnt factor :headbang2

ill know by monday afternoon...

From what I've heard, 14" seems to be their breaking point. Depending on the fish of course, but it sounds like their aggression gets pretty nasty. Pretty much all of what I've heard has been in reference to species tanks, though, so who knows. You might want to have a nice size spare tank just in case. It's really a shame, they're so B.A. It would be awesome to have a fleet of 30"-ers in a big pool or something.

I've got 4 and they are great, they don't nip at anything, they hit any food, as soon as it hits the water, they have a cool fast schooling thing going on which make it neat the way they seem to think / eat as a group. The only problem I had was that I had one a while back that died fairly easily after a Vieja beat it up.
Hopefully some people come by to buy some of the fish I have for sale, then with some tank space and funds freed up I'm planing on picking up a group of 10-
They are definately my favorite fish
