Here is a picture of one currently being built. This one actually is top trimless and is going to have an overflow. Also has a 1" bottom, but it gives an idea of what the dimensions look like.

Why the different thicknesses of glass? I'm just curious. That tank looks awesome. How much more would it cost at 96" long?

It's preference. Either way is safe. Obviously the thicker the better. With the thicker glass, you can have less bracing and have the option of having return holes drilled through the back panel.
