Tell you one thing, when they get a gob on boy do they ever, mine will dart in and out towards the chocolate cichlid leaving a mass stream of bubbles, bam bam lightning fast, its amazing to see

Thanks for the reply's guys :) The set-up is so dark because i like it and the fish feel better in dim light than very bright (esp. true for panaque).

Do pleuro prefer dim light as well? Is pinkie their only source of food? Your tank is amazing man.

Welcome to the food chain. Have you ever watch animal planet? Mice are a menace to society and predators are the only one keeping them under control. It might cruel if you don't like see things die but that's how it goes in the wild.

I just get them in the reptile store, where I buy all my live foods, the crickets, worms etc. They freeze them and sell them for people to feed to there pets, like my fish...not a big deal I think.

I think they do prefer dim lighting, I don't know for sure. Most of the fish like more dim than bright light, so because these are fresh water they get low light.

I don't have plants anyway and my panaque really actually comes from shadowed waters, if that was what your where getting at ;):D

Glad you like the set-up :)

Nice pair of Pleuros Loubard, that panaque is stunning.

Now that I thought about it, I think the bright light is for our viewing pleasure. In the amazon or forest the bright light doesn't penetrate far enough into the water due to the water being murky.
