Charles river huh,f'ing Bluegill are straight toughies man!!!!!I wouls love to have a bluegill fr from those colorfull ones:D

I caught a footlong bluegill in the charles once along with a white striper (morone americana?)

The white striper died and the bluegill committed suicide. I had a pretty good hood on the tank. It jumped, knocked the hood off and fell back into the tank. I went over, put the hood back on, and it jumped a couple more times, hit the hood again and knocked itself out. It died the day after.

well, here in boston, in the charles river, the bluegiil look even better than that picture. The river is dirtier than used toilet water, but the fish look pretty nice.

love that dirty water

Doesn't look like it does it? Hmmm.....wierd. Everybody seems to get them and keep them but nobody has a full grown one. I have had a bunch for about 8 months now give or take a couple. They are in my pond though and there is no way in hell I am going out there and trying to catch one. The water can't be over 40 degrees if I am lucky. BTW all of mine are around 4-5" maybe a bit more.

MEEPSTER, I would love to see that 12" bluegill you caught , nice fish. White striper , is that the same as a white perch or is that a striper land locked ?

a white perch is a white perch . striper are sea dwelling bass or he may mean white bass (freashwater) which is a calico bass they have stripe's similar to a salt water striped bass..
picture of white perch below..

so does nobody here actualy own a fullgrown bluegill?

Check my avatar. He's actually a little bigger than that now. He's not usually so bland looking. His colors change on a daily basis. I've had him for about a year and half....not full grown yet, I think, but you get the idea. He's in a 75 with three little pictus cats and seven snails.

I would have a bluegill if they didn't grow so large.

i always catch them infact i just fed a 1" juv to my stonefish. they always look really drab straight out of the lake but the tank lights seem to brighten them up.
