I've never seen an oscar that is 14" is 7-8 months.... They grow fast, but not 2" a month IMO.

I didn't read that the Oscar in the picture was 14inches...I take that back.

It is possible for a Oscar from 2-3 inches to get to 10-12 inches. With clean water and good diet. Mines went from 2-3 inches to 8 inches in only 4 months.

Mine took 6 months to get to 12''. all it takes is proper looking after. as soon as they can feed them live food. they love it and it helps them grow.

hey im wondering if anyone can help me find out what im doin im new to this sit and im wondering how to post, if u cant message me the help would be great

i still have my first jd!!! :nilly:
she's lovely.

cool i have had mine for about 2 months hes grown about .5" in that time so he is now about 2.5" but i have him in a small 20 gallon right now but i just was wondering how i should setup this new tank the 20 he is in has nothing in it but a big lava rock about the size of a basketball and i was wondering on what kind of care he needs and are they suppose to be light colored cuz when i first got him he was very dark and im wondering if hes healthy or not

don't worry to much about your jd.
jd are very hardy fish.
when the fish gets to be around 5" i would strongly recommend
putting it in a little larger tank.
jd's don't grow to be massive cichlids but they get some decent size.
water changes once a week or every 9 or 10 days will keep him pretty healthy.
