I have no problem with him. The show's goal is to show you how to survive in the wild. You can't survive in the wild if you don't eat. He is very knowledgable on the animals he kills, and he won't touch any endangered or protected species.

Agree. He does kill a couple animals to show you how to survive. But that couple is no real big dent in the population and eating animals to stay alive is part of nature.. 1 fish, 1 turtle, 1 frog, etc. He only usually takes one, or a couple if they're really small.

Who else would have told me to gut fish if it's larger than 3 inches before eating it? Who else would have told me not to eat mushrooms unless I know which ones are safe? Who else would have taught me how to ice fish with bare essentials? Or that grubs are edible and all freshwater fish are safe to eat?

Whether he stays in a hotel or has help or whatever or not. It's a well documented show that tends to make you want to sit there and watch what he's gonna teach you next.. Bear is the freakin man..

Yes he will, and does. He kills an endangered turtle in one of his shows. He even states before he does it that it is illegal to kill it, unless it is a life or death situation. Since he was in a "life or death situation" he killed it, cooked it, and ate it.

You sure he ate it? I'm pretty sure he decided against it telling you it was endangered and ate an invertbrete instead..

And I think you are right that he did not eat the turtle. I have seen a few shows where he caught an animal, explained that he was not going to eat it because it was endangered , and let it go.

Les doesn't kill animals unless he needs to. The only time he ever killed something endengered was when he was looking fot firewood in Louisiana and a rattlesnake that had made its home in falled wood scared the crap out of him. And for a while I hated Les Stroud for doing it. But Grylls just goes out of his way and doesn't have to film it himself or be careful as Les does because Les Stroud has no safety crew. BTW Gryyls one "Drank his pee," which would put you in the hospital. Any explanations for THAT?

I was sure. I just did a google search, and read he didn't eat them, he just informed the audience that the animal was endangered, and let it go.

Drinking pee wont put you in the hospital.

Neccessary? Is it neccessary I drink my own piss? Probably not, but its sterile and I like the taste!

btw drinking your own pee wont kill you. dont ask how i know, i just do. there are actually ppl out there who drink it everyday because they believe it will make them live longer and give them better health (im not one of them.)

Bear killed a fish by biting its back open-its guts squished out the gills, but you know what? he sat there and ate the fish-he was so hungry his hands were shaking.. i wouldnt be able to do that unless i was starving to death so i tend to believe he's the real deal lol

oh and btw, urine is not sterile-its considered "clean". big difference. I have worked in healthcare since 1994, and the idea that urine is sterile is a common misconception.

urine is nothing more than dead bacteria and cells, mucuous, water, proteins that contain growth horomones and enzymes.
