Fundraiser to save a MFK arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am humbled by the kindness of all of you who have responded. If for no other reason than learning in this life that such goodness lies in the hearts of a random group of people from all over the world brought tegether by their love of animals, It's all worth it.

The Options are:
1. fly the fish, 8 hrs home to home in new tank, cost is approx. $200

2. Overnight USPS, fish will be boxed for at least 24 maybe a couple more hours. He's a 14" Silver Aro

I planned to send him to Ethnics, then I realized I couldn't afford that much.
Then a kind MFK member posted this for Ethnics and I to help save the Aro.

I plan to send him next week. I can handle $70, but appreciate your offer and should anyone wish to help, please PM Ethnics or Me. If there's enough money to fly him and ensure he'll live, we'll do that. If there's not enough money, plan B will be used to send him postal. (Aro's are very good at going postal!)))

If there's excess money, I would divide and return it to the donators, or ask you as a group how you felt about creating a small fund (giftd to MFK) for helping members in need of help when it's something that touches our hearts

Regardless of this Thank you all so much, I have wondered at times but now know what kind of wonderful friends you are, to the animals. (and us!)

So I'm going to fight this battle and beat it and my buddy will have a great life!

Bump:thumbsup:

i am the one recieving the aro from mei. i was already in need of a 3rd aro, and mei is binded in a situation where she needs someone to care for hers. i have the tank space, knowledge/skill to care for it, but jus dont have the funds at the moment to pay for the shipping especially when it cost double or tripple then silvers locally. so im more doing this for her, and for the aro. if ur willing to help, thanks, if not a simple good luck with our journey shows u care. again this is non profit, mei is not making money off this and neither am i. we are doing it for the sole purpose of giving the aro a great new home and a long life to live.

bderick, thanks man. me and mei really appreciate it.

Cool, I'm in for a few bucks ;)

Good luck guys, allthough for some reasom $200 seems high for air freight, as I often read on the sale threads of people flying stingrays in boxes that are decent sized and they seem to average out to $70-ish dollars? Perhaps you guys could get in touch with one of them or one of the venders that is close to you and see if they can help save make this cheaper?

the only flight out she has is a dinky mini plane that needs to transfer to a real air line. then get delivered to my area of sd. normal flight cargo is 70ish but for some reason, where she's located it cost 200. we'll figure something out.

the guy with the huge huge pond, has fish that are way to big for this silver. its only 14" and would be great with my pair.

Thanks Neo. For Everyone's info, we are 1/2 way there with your donations for buying him a plane ticket. We're shooting for thursday with only 6 hrs of flight time and no wait at this tiny airport.
Thanks to everyone, wow:headbang2

I know he'd be here in a heartbeat to save my Aro, but the news somehow started in San Diego and worked it's way north, by the time north had a home for him, south had always been promised the fish.

Besides, this will be the most travelled Aro on MFK, he needs frequent flyer miles!

This is the making of a great story, we'll need pics.

Great idea, that's the least I can do, I'll take pics of this end of the adventure right up to the plane he takes off in. (Betcha didn't know Alaska Air has planes that small!)
Ethnics, you gonna handle photos from his arrival on home to his new tank?
You had better!!!

He's still a baby in a lot of ways, he's coming into his own but really friendly to all of his tiny tankmates, he just hates pleco's! OK, now I'm fussing, that's pathetic. Back to my waterchange I go....this is heartbreaking, he's all sucking up as Aro's can do, rubbing my arms, nosing into my hoses, he's really making this waterchange difficult. He's making me feel guilty. Or thanking me for getting him the he// out of here!

IF ANYONE has responded or PM'd me and I have not returned the pm, please let me know. I'm trying to keep track of names and user id's and don't want to offend anyone with an oversight.

We're 3/4 of the way there with pledges, thanks again.
