Maybe it depends on your tap/tank water.... but from my experience salt has not done a thing when compared to mela and pima in my tanks. The tablets and powders have never seemed to do well for me either, but the liquids seem to work wonders. Even with metro if I want it to work I have to dissolve it in a container of distilled water first and then add it to the tank.

Do you have very hard water?

Well loss like a typical internal parasite. Pumafix or prazi pro works well for me. Also the female fish pictured its a Parathaps Guttlatus. Spelled wrong but definitely not a umbee. Here is my female umbee for reference.

Really. Ok learned something new. I purchased her for my wife and was told it was an Umbee. I appreciate the clarification I'm not sure the guy at my aquarium store knows his mistake. Either way pretty cool fish.

So you are treating the tank with aquarium salt & the GC? Or just the salt? If you are only treating with salt get the GC and use that too. Remember everytime you do a water change you have to redose the salt at a rate that will replace the amount removed. Lets see how this goes for a couple of days you should see improvement. If you don't or it sees to get worse we can try somthing else.

Beyond the advice already given above, you could try, if they are eating, to soak the pellets in a 3% Epsom Salt solution. This means a table spoon of Epsom salt in a half litre of water.

With the soaked pelletes, the epsom solution stays in the gut and generally works wonders.
Do it for 10 straight days....
