Funniest Christmas present ever

We hated that woman! She made our lives hell. My class actually went to the dean as a group and said we were all rebelling against her class because of how tyrannical she had become...

I went through my hamster phase too. I think every girl does. Does she like any fish at all???
Not enough to have her own tank. She likes to look at my tanks but that's all. My son shows more interest though. I still may have a child to pass the torch to.

Yes, she was the only professor who ever made me cry. I accidentally put the wrong product down the sink and she warned me I had probably ruined the plumbing system for the entire university. That's a great feeling, especially when it's screamed at you and everyone else is just standing there staring  in their white coats and goggles.

I never can understand how people don't get into fish! It looks like there's hope for your son though, I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)

She never made me cry, but she made me think very bad thoughts and plot very bad things....

Back to the topic, sounds cool, and you'll have to let us know what your dad picks.

I've kept bolivian rams and german rams. The germans, I've had 6 for a total of probably 4 months. The bolivians I had 4 for a total of about 2 years.

The germans are much prettier, but they are very delicate. Mine were breeding within 3 days of being in my tank, but one of them got ich out of nowhere, and they all had it and then were dead within 2 days.

The bolivians are much hardier, if a little less colorful, but are still very nice rams. If you get a group of them, you'll get to see some very interesting hierarchical behavior, which is really cool to watch.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think the tank will be centered around cichlids. It will be heavily planted and my dad originally just wanted the tetras. I am trying my hardest to get him to accept one male ram or apisto.

xrayjeeper, I'm in Gainesville.

Props for the German Blue's. Hardest fish I have ever tried.

yeah, once I get moved in a couple months, I'm going to set up a 20L or 20T and get it running nice and smooth and then try some german blues alone in it. These were (and probably still are) one of my favorite fish, and my fiance's as well (which is saying something, as she generally doesn't care one way or the other).

If it's only going to be one fish other than some tetra's, maybe go for something a little more flashier, but still hardier. Look up rainbow cichlids. They stay pretty small (3-4" max), are colorful, and do well with tetras. Or really any of the smaller acara's would probably work as well.

Yeah I considered both of those and brought them up to my dad. I actually had a rainbow once that was a little bully, and he wants a pretty peaceful tank so I think I'll stay clear the larger guys (by larger I mean anything over 2" SL haha). The tank is only 18x18 footprint and will be very heavily planted.

good luck on the tank

Im up in jax.....couple of months ago was stuck in gainesville for 6 hours cause my damn car wouldnt start lol
