Funny Story about Knifefish and Fish Experts

Damn,

There are always ppl out there like that though...

lol.. i bet i know which forum that was.. almost all of em suck now

Its pet store 'experts' that are the worst, other than some marine biologists. LFS guys are ok, but I went to the petsmart for crickets, and saw some dwarf puffers. I had been meaning to set up a species tank, and I had a new 29 wide hex all cycled and ready. But I don't buy WC fish. So I asked the guy, 'are these wild caught or captive bred?' and he says, let me get the expert. So in like five minutes a guy (younger than me, with acne) comes out and starts spouting about how only an experienced fishkeeper like himself should even attempt dwarf puffers. So I ask him about his tanks. He says he has a 10 gallon with a big goldfish and guppies in it. So 1) he is keeping goldfish and tropicals together (one of those is suffering) 2) he is keeping a large (black moor, from his description) in a 10 gallon, with no plans for expansion. I just left. I do know an awesome reptile (and everything else, but I can manage most other things) expert. He could probably beat god in an animal quiz bowl.

This is the first fish forum site I've ever joined. I don't want to go anywhere else because I keep hearing how other sites have a lot of "fish snobs" who thinks that everyone who wants to keep fish has to have a bare minimum of 300g:screwy:

That is how I found this site.. I was on another and I was reading a thread where they were flaming someone about an arrowana... how it needs min 300 gallons... and someone from here posted the website and said to check it out cause people here keep it real.. I mean.. there are definitely some people who totally overcrowd.. but you have to take in mind the size of the fish in there now as well as full grown...

first forum for me technically i have been a member with pethobbyist for along time but never really liked it to much mainly good for pics i see experts like that all the time i just laugh at them and most of the time i burst there ego but lately i found it to be more fun just laughing in there face

maybe we aren't all so snobby because the fish we keep would scare the sh*t out of you if you met them in the wild. Gotta be humbling.

This is my first site. I joined another site but the guy who was asking for an advice, and i gave him one, flamed me. He said that he has been in the business for 15 yrs and he knows what his doing. WTF. If he was in the business for that long, how come his fish keep on dying. Peoeple like this makes my day:swear:
