Its pet store 'experts' that are the worst, other than some marine biologists. LFS guys are ok, but I went to the petsmart for crickets, and saw some dwarf puffers. I had been meaning to set up a species tank, and I had a new 29 wide hex all cycled and ready. But I don't buy WC fish. So I asked the guy, 'are these wild caught or captive bred?' and he says, let me get the expert. So in like five minutes a guy (younger than me, with acne) comes out and starts spouting about how only an experienced fishkeeper like himself should even attempt dwarf puffers. So I ask him about his tanks. He says he has a 10 gallon with a big goldfish and guppies in it. So 1) he is keeping goldfish and tropicals together (one of those is suffering) 2) he is keeping a large (black moor, from his description) in a 10 gallon, with no plans for expansion. I just left. I do know an awesome reptile (and everything else, but I can manage most other things) expert. He could probably beat god in an animal quiz bowl.
