This is an amazing pair, do you happen to have a pics of them when he was 4"s? Mine is about 4"s and has spotting similar to your male. Kind of wanting to see how your male looked at that size for comparison.

Sorry I did not start taking pictures and video till he was about 6 inches. I can say he was just a plain silver with darkish barring. There was nothing colorful about them till they hit about 5 inches. there's a picture of the female at 5" in the 7th post of this thread. She was much more colorful than him for the first few months till he bloomed.
 
They're still breeding like rabbits on a regular basis. If anyone in NYC area wants me to hold a few fry for them just drop me a PM.

Male is just under 12 inches. I'm going to take some video with a better camera this weekend.
 
So Diego passed away today. Over the last few weeks I noticed he was spending lots of time at the bottom of the tank and although he was still eating, didn't seem himself. He was 12.5 inches long. I'm going to find a home for his girlfriend and start over with a different species.

Here's what he looked like. Even in death he was a pretty impressive fish.

Man what an awesome fish. That's sad that he died but now you get to do it all over again :) thanks for a great thread it was one of my favourites I have seen on MFK. R.I.P Diego
