What do you use to dechlorinate the new water during water changes?
Hi
I can't believe it, after 2 of you suggested I could have high nitrates I used the new bottles of API master test kit that I ordered recently as I was starting to run low. I tested all the levels again and the nitrate have come up between 40 and 80ppm, you were right, I'm so shocked and upset as I used water from my main tank to help cycle the water in a new axolotl tank and that tank is also showing very high nitrate.... The nitrite and ammonia are both at 0.... I use natural rapport water condition, I do have some stress zyme, would you suggest I use that instead as just in the middle of a water change at the moment

I'm happy you got a positive reading because was concerned the aquarium wasn't completely cycled. That's why I asked about the dechlorinator. I suggest changing your water change routine to bi-weekly or weekly if possible 50% water change. You can continue to use your products.

I suggest treating the Severum in a separate aquarium or a tote with air will suffice after experienced members with knowledge of meds chime in.

I've had my tank for over 2 years and test the water at least once every 1 to 2 months, it has always shown 0 nitrate but now obviously the nitrate bottle must have been faulty, I feel bad for my fish as I always seem to be treating my tank for one thing or another and now I've realised the nitrate was probably the problem all along. Thank you so much for your help and advice, I'm going to complete my water change now and continue as you suggested.
Thanks again

Could be lymphocystis but shouldn’t be fuzzy. Fungus will be fuzzy. I’d dab the fins with hydrogen peroxide on a qtip to the area. Avoid the gills while doing this if able.
