Fuzz on gold severum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh right.... Its not really fuzzy, looks like 2 little maggots hanging of the fin to be honest, I don't know how else to explain it, dabbing hydrogen poroxide sounds complicated, I'm not sure if I will be able to do that... Where would I get the hydrogen peroxide from?
Sorry I sound like such a novice I know ??‍♀️

H2O2 like you would find at any pharmacy or grocery store.
You would have to pull the fish from the tank - easier than it sounds but I know firsthand how strong sevs are…

Walgreens, cvs, Duane Reed, Walmart, publix, kroger, Winn Dixie etc.

1.Don't pour any Peroxide in the aquarium.
2.Catch the severum in a net position it so infected area and infected fin can be treated.
3.I suggest applying the peroxide on the infected area using a q-tip. You can dip the qtip in bottle cap of the Peroxide but dip once and throw away qtip after rubbing on infected area.
Also please remember don't get any Peroxide near the Severums gills because it can be fatal.
If possible have someone help you hold the fish in the net while you do the treatment.
Rinse off the fish net after your done.

Okay thanks.... One more question, once I've treated the Severum can I put him back in the main tank or do I have to keep it seperate

My opinion is that what is on the fin and what is on the head area of the severum are different things, but both are exacerbated by chronic high nitrate resulting from insufficient water changes.
On the fins, I would go with something along the lines of limphocystis (viral).
On the head wound, I think there is HITH (hole in the head) wounds that are slighted colonized by secondary bacterial or fungal infections. They don't look too terrible and can be reverted (healed) over several months if water quality is improved. Good luck!

That's sound very encouraging, thank you.... I intend to continue with weekly water changes and hopefully get the nitrate down as low as possible. Thank you for your advice
