no. hex internal parasite. HITH a bacterial.

cure for HITH is long time exposure to pristine water and ,low stress on the fish, all the water changes in the world not cure hex, that takes meds.

oh, ok....I thought Hexamita eventually led to HITH which was actually a combination of several different bacterias. Killing the bacteria was one thing, but closing up the hole is a different story.

As per I was informed lol

We were always told Parasite Clear to kill it, Melafix to heal the hole up

HITH is 99.9 percent of the time from bad water quality over time. the cure is the exact opposite.
The holes will heal over, albiet with scaring and dimples. I have seen some pretty nasty HITH get healed up with pristine water conditions maintained. but again took a ,long time in bad water to get it, takes a long time on pristine water to cure it.

think cure the wrong word. My mistake, to heal it, if the ball is droped on water conditions can always come back,

But isn't there some type of pathogen that initially causes it that has to be killed or it just relapses and comes back?

I mean bacterial, Fungal, Viral.....gotta be one of those, right?

for HITH its always present, pristine water conditions or good water conditions the fish has no prob fighting it off and never an issue, bad water conditions and stress, fishes immune system weekens and it can get a hold and start doing its DMG, EI eating into the fish.

just like us out here, in the air, there always inherent pathogens. in and out of our bodies, if given the chance they will run amuk,
