Toying with the idea of a FW puff for a planted tank, wondered if anyone could make some suggestions?

Ideally fancy something that maxes out around the 6" mark, and just one to be kept alone, so a stroppy puff is no problem. Already keep a fig 8 and a T. occellatus, so I'm officially a pufferholic... lol

Would need to be one that's not a digger though, so something like a congo is out sadly. Which is a shame, as I love those!

What size tank have you got and any other fish in there already?

Need a little more info before we can recommend a puffer for your tank...

If you do t have other fish already, you could go with a few dwarf puffers. They are 100% freshwater and max out at 1" . Just make sure you don't get a lot of males or just have a large tank with different territories

Won't be having anything else in the tank if I do go for a puffer. Just re-read my post, and it kinda sounds like my other two puffs are in the tank I'm talking about, they're not! lol.

Tank is 182L filtered with a G6, so fair bit of space. I've had it set up before with co2 etc, but I want to go down the route of a nice natural planted tank, sort of walstad style. Really couldn't think of a FW puff that would be suitable for that sort of set up, so I was hoping to research something I hadn't heard of and maybe keep something new. Tanks coming down soon for the lounge floor to be redone, so when I set it back up I'm starting from scratch. Plenty of time for choosing.

so thats around 50G?

What are the dimensions on the tank? coz i'm just trying to work out if you could maybe get away with a group of 3 South American Puffers... (Colomesus asellus)

Im there with ya Christie. Havent had much luck with the GSP so im looking for a good hardy fw puffer for my 55 gal. And thanks pufferpunk and all those who belped for the help with getting my juvi fahaka set in his new home. He is thriving and eating like a pig lol

I agree the dentistry is not for everyone... Maybe time to start looking online for some puffer profiles you think might interest you while waiting for more answers?

As long as you have plenty of room, Pea puffers, might be a cool little one to get and watch...They don't touch the six inch mark...bit you could have several.. at the 1-1.5 inch mark : / just a thought..
