FW Puffers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Unfortunately the axolotyl wont work with puffers for 2 main reasons...

lol, don't worry, its either or! Not both together. Axy wouldn't stand a chance poor thing!
I've got to be honest, about the only puffs I'd be happy mixing are dwarf puffs and ottos. The o/h did suggest quite literally filling the tank with dps, but I'm not too sure about that suggestion!

^ As far as i can tell, yes... although i'm sure some one will correct me if i'm wrong...

Also, mixing Dwarf puffers with otto cats and some cherry red shrimp is a pretty fun little project.. although i, like yourself would be hesitant to fill a 75G with just dwarf puffers... although i did at one stage for a brief moment consider filling my 200G at one stage with just dwarf puffers...

Wouldn't the cherry shrimp end up as dinner?

I've only kept a single dwarf puff in the past, had a fun little set up with a modified biorb. Lost him because I was using RO for w/cs and cocked up the remineraliser giving him pH shock :( Felt like a total pratt for that one. I'd love to keep them again at some point, but I'd rather have them in a nice planted nano, not the big tank!

Just wish the o/h would get a wriggle on and get this floor sorted so I can start on the tank!! I moved the G6 off it yesterday and put it on my fugus tank since I want a less powerful filter for this one when it's done. My only problem is what to do with the plants that are already in there since I want to save them, but I'm out of FW tanks they'll fit in in the mean time.

With the Dwarf Puffers and Shrimp, for the most part they should be okay... naturally, the DP's may pick of the RCS babies, but the adults are normally pretty safe, unless you purposely let them know that those shrimp can be eaten... such as one CRS dies of natural causes and then you keep tempting your DP's to take a bite till they realize its food...

As for your plants question... unfortunately i'm far from knowledgeable in plants so i'll leave that for some one else to help you with...
