wassup all. havent posted here in a while. my fx5 keeps making this gurgling sound like there's air in it. i know it shuts itself off to clear the air but the sound comes back shortly after. i even shut the power off and cleared all the air in the canister, but the air comes back and my outlet has lots of air bubbles flowing thru it. just want to post maybe something wrong with my filter if anyone has ever gone thru this already. any input?

That means its time to clean out, try unplugging and cleaning everything, remember to shake bio in tank water as to not kill bb. Also make sure all your hoses are solid and hooked up properly. After that it should run fine.

i cleaned everything out except the pump maybe 6 weeks ago when i moved. it runs fine when i shut it off and turn it back on again. i guess i will do it once again to see if that helps. seems the lines are hooked up properly with no leaks. this is not a new setup, it's been running for a while hear and just today started making the gurgling sound and water coming out of the outlet hose.

1+

Assuming you don't have a jet pump or air stone that's creating micro bubbles that are getting sucked up the intake, its time to clean it out. As far as it leaking goes, any leak that's allowing enough air into the system, for you to see bubbles, means you would defiantly be able to see where its leaking from. So I think you can rule that one out.

My Fx5 goes for about 6 weeks before it starts blowing bubbles. A good cleaning of the media is all it takes to stop it. Hope this helps :)

EDIT: Is your outlet hose leaking? :WHOA:
and just today started making the gurgling sound and water coming out of the outlet hose.

could be something stuck by i doubt it food i feed floats and never gets down to the intake. i mean to say air bubbles coming out the outlet hose.

MAke sure you tightened the fasteners across from each not next to each other. If not tightened properly it could allow air in.

what about the pump assembly? is there any special way to clean that? i never have.

Pages 23 and 24 of the user manual gives specific instructions on removing the pump, cleaning it and reassembling it.:)

hi deeboi
if the joint between the intake strainer pipe and the hose isn't below the water line you can get air being sucked in there, and it isn't always noticeable
