FX5 or not

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Check fluvals site for the specs, but that filter is great. I'd say get one and don't think of it as excessive, just efficient. When you turn the power on, you'll know what I mean!

a fx5 for a 75-85g tank is...................... if you already have a filter on it
then i'd recommend getting a good cheap used canister like a magnum 350 pro
or a ac110 or filters of sorts in that area... a fx5 for that setup is 1. a way overkill,
2. really not needed & 3. a waste of money... not mention fx5 runs 400 watts
which will increase your electric bill a decent amount...

what i would do is leave the current filter on and add another filter
like i stated above or... add a sump w/d system...

An FX5 on what is basically an 80g tank. :duh: wow, really fail to see the logic in that.

totally a logical approach.. ebay, like 200$ shipped.. monster filtration, perfect for messy fish, great on maintenance; you could go 6 months easy w/o loss of power, especially in a smaller rated tank..

Does anyone have the dimensions of a FX5?

like 16''x17''

FX5 FTW lol..

i decided to go for a FX5. it came with pan scrubbers and bio balls for filter media, are these good for filter media as ive never used them before. is there any particular order to have media in the 3 trays or do you just have the same in all 3?

sorry if these questions sound silly

i didnt realise the FX5 would be so big either lol. im going to have to buy another cabinet just for it :)

If it's to much flow you can always turn the flow rate knobs back some....it's a good investment when you want to upgrade your tank...
