so for a while now i have been having nothing but problems with the flow rate on my fx5. has anyone ever taken the pump off of their fx5? i clean it, it starts out good and then a day later the filter starts to trickle.. it makes a chssssshhh sound here and there and sometimes lets out air while doing it.... any both have any ideas? or has anyone had this problem with the flow rate?

this happens just unplug it and air bubbles should pop up out of the outake so sont be suprized because it is a big filter after they start just plug it in then it should be fine

let me know how it works just pm me

or if you have any trouble

no good.. i have tried this.. something more is wrong with it

no body has ever had this problem? has anyone ever taken the pump out?

It sounds like it is sucking in air somewhere

What filter media do you have in the center baskets?

Sounds like air is getting in somehow. Check seals and body for problems/cracks.

ii will check for cracks again tomorrow but i havnt noticed any leaks at all.. i bought it brand new and it about 8 months old.. i am going to inspect the whole thing tomorrow when i tear it apart.

have you checked the blue pad?

Lets do some troubleshooting.
When this problem happends, close both intake and output valves immediatly.
Unplug the filter and remove the valves and hoses. Remove the cover and let us know where the water level in the filter basin is......

It almost sounds like the syphon from the intake is reduced and the filter sucks in air instead of water, lowering the water level in the basin untill the impeller starts to come in contact with the air which will reduce the water flow to a trickle.
