I always had my polishing pads on the top basket. I know when they start to clog up because I will have small micro bubbles in the tank after a couple weeks.

hope it works out for you mate, is them the blue circular pads?i have one in my bottom tray with those ceramic things underneath, my filter does not seem to have a problem, i might have a butchers tommorow when i come to clean the filter, might leave the blue one out and see what the flow rates like then, get backto you and say wether or not i can notice a difference,
