Yup filled to the top.... I did a water change and didn't shut the filter off and that is why i did the video to show people the output power...

How many holes do you have in your spray bar, and how large are they?

I think I have a video some where of the Fx5's output from the 1" tubing. The water gets throw about 8-10" I think. It was a while ago.

There are a total of 12 holes now 6 on the front and 6 directly across thru the back...

There were originally 6--- 1/8" holes but this proved to be too small as the water shot across the tank to the other side... I drilled up to 15/64" and still had strong streams of water shooting across the tank... I was going to make another spray bar so i drilled thru with the 15/64" bit and that really calmed things down to a more acceptable level...
12 holes @ 15/64 is good now i need to redo the spray bar to help push the detritus towards the other side instead of gathering in the middle... I vacuum the detritus every other day so it's not on the "priority list"...

Also I dont understand the 2217 on the 40 gallon breeder? Was it a good match or no ? Looked sweet to me. Do you mean the reliability while running in play sand? If thats the case then it must have no by pass :) I love my Eheim 2215 and am hooking up a 2217 to the same tank here soon.

I think it's a great match... for the 40... I was afraid it was going to be too strong... It actually was going to go on a 55 and i wanted to cycle the filter first since the 55 stand was another project.
I wouldn't trade my Eheims for anything..
I would do it again in a heartbeat... infact i am going to pick up another 2217 and just load it with substrat pro when $$ becomes available hooked up to a turbo twist 18W for my EBJD project hopefully to happen by the end of the summer..

I didn't want people to also think i was being baised i own both...

I bought mine the first of the year and WOW it is running my 125gal CA/SA and it works awesome. Well with that said I'm going to buy another one cause the thing works like a champ!

Although the fx5 is powerfull and all, I would much rather get an eheim 2262 over 2 fx5's.

Though, the upside to the fx5 is the price, $200 shipped is not bad.

DING DING DING DING IMO that is the key right there. Think about it, you can set up one for heavy mech and the other for heavy bio filtration, if you want to. I am not knocking the EHEIMS for one second, they have been an industry leader for quite sometime. But you have to realize that there will be some nice competition nipping at your heels and that is what the FX5 is doing right now
