Hi yall. I've been looking at getting a new filter for my new 150 gallon tank and here's what I've come down to. I can get a new fx6 for $330 (with foam pads and crappy bio media) or I can get a used 2262 (with tons of substrat pro) for $350. I'm leaning towards the eheim, but I'm kinda scared of buying a used filter that is this expensive. What do yall think? New fx6 or old 2262?

You might try looking at the thread in General forum that happens to be the same question.

Sorry I'm new and I didn't think this thread went through, so I made another one. I tried to take it down but was never able to. I'd be more than happy to take it down if I knew how.

Don't worry about it,its no big deal.

Well that's a relief. I thought yall were upset lol.

Can't beat the Eheim for bio capacity. ...
Used price is a bit high....quite a bit...
maybe shop around...both filters are good for their own reasons, and Eheim is notorious for lack of parts availability. ...
just my experience.

Stick around and you'll get a feel for our rather warped sense of humor.

Look forward to it!

Thanks for the info. Maybe I should wait for a better deal.

My very good friend was an Eheim rep for a number of years and swears by the technology. ...however, even he says as of late, and he isn't a rep any longer because of it, the protuct has gone way down as of late. New ownership or poor manufacturing or a combination of the two have made Eheim somewhat of an average Joe these days. Customer service is virtually non-existent. ..and again, parts are very hard to come by, especially on discontinued lines like my 2250 ( original)...
For your hard earned money, and this is my humble opinion, you would be better to spend it on a new filter and one that has an equal track record..or similar at least to Eheim.
